YOUR VOICE, OUR COMMUNITY PROJECT

Your Voice Community Project Logo

The Your Voice, Our Community Project will gather the perspectives of California residents who have used drugs to better understand current community-defined barriers and facilitators to accessing treatment, harm reduction and other health-related services. This component of the SOR program evaluation will provide insights on the experiences and perspectives of people who use drugs (PWUD), and evaluate whether and how the program can better serve their needs. It will function as a means for PWUD to participate in the evaluation process.

The Your Voice, Our Community survey is the first step in a "citizen science" approach to the SOR evaluation. The survey asks about experiences with substance use, treatment, and other services for the health and well-being of PWUD. At the end of the survey, participants are asked whether they have additional research questions they would like to see added to the project, and if they would be willing to complete open-ended follow up interviews, to gain further context and insight into their responses. The survey will use respondent driven sampling (RDS) to engage community members in the recruitment process.

Aggregate, de-identified data from the survey will be shared on this website, as they become available.

The UCLA evaluation team will also facilitate the Your Voice, Our Community Steering Committee, where community members will interpret findings from surveys and interviews, engage in decision-making, and define future research objectives.
