Montana’s Contingency Management (CM) Program Two-Part ImplementationTraining

Training Description

This two-part Implementation Training is designed to provide a detailed overview of the MT HEART CM Program – a contingency management pilot program for treating individuals with a StimUD.

Part 1 of the training includes a review of contingency management principles and guidelines for effectively implementing contingency management, in addition to providing tools for participant outreach and information for aligning program implementation with OIG’s “Final Rule”. At the end of the Part 1 training, attendees will be able to: (1) Recall at least three (3) forms of empirical evidence to support CM as an intervention for treating stimulant use disorder; (2) Identify the four (4) required elements involved in effectively implementing the MT HEART CM Program; and (3) Specify at least two (2) forms of outreach for engaging members into the MT HEART CM Program.

Part 2 provides a review of the workflow involved in contingency management visits and urine drug testing and incentive manager (IM) procedures, in addition to preparing providers to address challenges that commonly arise in mplementing contingency management. Operational considerations are also reviewed, such as staffing and fidelity monitoring, the Readiness Assessment, implementation support/coaching calls, and additional implementation resources offered to providers. At the end of the Part 2 training, attendees will be able to: (1) Identify four (4) key guidelines of the point-of-care urine drug test (UDT) protocol; (2) Explain at least (3) key elements of the Incentive Manager; (3) Specify at least two (2) methods for addressing program challenges that may commonly arise in implementing the MT HEART CM Program; and (4) Recall at least two (2) implementation support activities.

To register for Part 2 of the Implementation Training, you must first complete a Part 1 Implementation Training. And completion of both Part 1 and Part 2 of the Implementation Training is required for individuals who are serving in the role of a CM Coordinator, Back-Up CM Coordinator, or CM Supervisor within their agency for the MT HEART CM Program.

Continuing Education Credit

The training course meets the qualifications for the provision of six (6.0) continuing education credits/contact hours (CEs/CEHs).

UCLA ISAP is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs (Provider #64812). UCLA ISAP maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content. Course meets the qualifications for six (6.0) hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. UCLA ISAP is also an approved provider of continuing education for RADTs I/II, CADCs-CASs, CADCs I/II, CADCs-CSs, and LAADCs (CCAPP, #2N-00-445-1125), CATCs (ACCBC/CAADE, #CP40 872 C 0825), SUDCCs (CADTP, #151), and Certified Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialists (CMPSS; CalMHSA CE Provider #1012). Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider #15455, for # contact hours.

NOTE: CE credit will be awarded within 6-8 weeks following the conclusion of the Part 2 training session. Partial credit will not be available for those participants who arrive either session late or leave early. Full participation in both Part 1 and Part 2 is required for CE credit.
